Freshservice export, import and migration guides

Explore native tools for moving Freshservice records, preparing a usable archive and recovering deleted information.

Freshservice and Freshdesk have separate products, APIs, and data models.

Choose a native Freshservice workflow

Prepare for a switch

Keep useful Freshservice history available while teams learn a replacement system.

Work through an outage

Look up a previously captured ticket, customer, or billing record while the source is unavailable.

Review an absent record

Open the last captured version of a record after it no longer appears in a later successful backup.

Records to assess

Freshservice business-record context

  • Tickets and service requests
  • Conversations and notes
  • Requesters and workspaces
  • Problems, changes, and linked assets

List and Analytics exports can omit conversations; use the conversations API or ticket PDF where the required history calls for it.

Backup preparation

  1. Create API key or OAuth 2.0 scopes using least privilege.
  2. Add the tenant, region, or subdomain details described in the credential guide.
  3. Validate the connection and choose supported record groups.
  4. Run a manual backup, then review collection results before relying on the snapshot.

Plan the full data lifecycle

Choose a native export method, check the destination importer, and validate a sample before cutover. Preserve readable source history for later client questions.
